This page embeds a calendar that actually lives at the Google Calendar site. This embedded version is read-only. Changes or additions cannot be made here. I am the only one who has permission to add or change calendar items, at the moment, although I will happily confer those permissions on others who would like to do so.
I've set up this calendar to display a multiplicity of calendars which I've judged to be relevant:
- an official Park Terrace Gardens schedule (for which I will gather information from office announcements);
- a calendar of other events I think might be of interest;
- an alternative parking calendar (which I obtained at the NY DOT; 2010 only, I'll post 2011 when it is available);
- U.S., Christian, Muslim and Jewish holidays (anyone know where I can find a Hindi Google calendar?);
- a sunrise/sunset calendar;
- a day-of-the-year calendar;and
- a week-of-the-year calendar
Each of these calendar layers displays in a different color. It makes for a somewhat busy view, at times, so there are instructions below about how to display layers selectively.
The default is a month view:
Notice, however, that there is a tab in the upper right for a week view:
Another tab allows you to view calendar items in a list called an "Agenda":
Each of these views is printable. Should you want to view a period of time other than the one displayed there are a fiew controls to assist you in the upperl left portion of the calendar. You may move from month-to-month (or week-to-week, depending on your view) by clicking on the right-pointing arrow to go forward in time or the left-pointing arrow to go back:
If you would like to make larger jumps without having to wait for the page to refresh along the way you may invoke the calendar control by clicking on the downward-pointing arrow to the right of the portion of the calendar naming the time segment you are viewing:
This will produce a mini-calendar (a "calenar control") which can be moved month-to-month by clicking on the double-arrow symbols flanking the month-name and can be used to pinpoint a day by clicking on the specific date desired:
Should you desire to return the calendar to its display of the current time period just click on the leftmost "Today" button:
Finally, if you want to control what sorts of items will be displayed on the calendar just click the rightmost downward-pointing arrow to bring up a menu like this:
The name of each "layer" of the calendar is displayed in the color in which its events appear. You may uncheck any layer to prevent it from being displayed.
I hope this calendar will prove useful; please let me know. Also let me know about other layers you would like to add (residents' birthdays? school calendar? transit service notifications?) although I cannot guarantee that I will have the time or other resources to add them. Finally, send an email to email@example.com if you would like to be added as an editor of the calendar.
